A 44-year-old man stabbed his 57-year-old girlfriend to death at a residence in the Mkhamba Gardens area of Ladysmith on Friday afternoon.

The suspect was struck by a vehicle while attempting to escape from the crime scene.
He was hospitalised under police guard and died during the early hours of Saturday morning.
Police are investigating a case of murder into the death of the woman and an inquest docket into the death of the man.
The deceased have not yet been officially identified.
