The community is warned against fraudsters who will call you, pretending to be from a reputable company. They ask you a few personal questions and pretend to be helping you.

Instead, they are doing a sim-swap from their side and with all your information given, your network is disconnected. After that, the fraudsters use your personal information to gain access to your cellphone banking and other services. People are also warned to be vigilant at ATMs.

Assault and theft is on the rise in Sibongile and Dundee in CBD

A resident was attacked at his home and robbed of a TV. No arrests have been made.
In another incident, a woman was mugged while walking near the Colley Street bridge and robbed of R1 000.
She was held at knife point. Residents have for months appealed for extra street lights to be put up in the area.
A pedestrian was robbed of a cellphone, driver’s licence, handbag and cash, valued at R3 300, when she was attacked in the central business area.
