The Youth Citizens Action Programme (YCAP) is a worldwide competition which aims to empower the youth to be active citizens. Ladysmith Secondary School (Lasec) took part in the competition for the first time.
The first round, which is the district level, took place in May at the District offices, where various schools showed great effort in putting together wonderful projects.
Lasec represented the uThukela district at provincial level in Durban recently, where they took first place and will go on to represent KZN in the national championship.

Their Recycling for Rands campaign, which is the name of the team, aims to conserve the environment by recycling papers and cardboard. They say the project is a practical and sustainable one.
They would appreciate any kind of funding or sponsors, as this will help them accomplish their goals.
Lasec wishes the team everything of the best for the national championship, which will be held on July 28-30.
