While the somewhat perilous stretch of Utrecht Street, outside New Republic School, can often be a nightmare to navigate when traffic picks up during morning drop-offs and afternoon pick-ups, some parents may have recently breathed a sigh of relief with the newly-laid speedbumps at the busy pedestrian crossing outside the school.
Speedbumps are there to increase safety and are most commonly found where vehicle speeds are statutorily mandated to be low, especially near schools.
However, some motorists may be perturbed by the potential damage to vehicles with lower ground clearance.
