Family remembers an angel who departed too soon
Her family members say they have lost someone they affectionately call the 'family magnet' due to her bubbly and compassionate nature
Reliving milestones and memories while scrolling through dozens of photographs is how family members remember Lavashnee (Sholene) Lukhan. The 27-year-old passed away at her home in Gladiola Road on August 9.
Tributes attributing to the young woman’s light-hearted spirit and warm nature flooded social media when news of Mrs Lukhan’s untimely death surfaced. Her family members say they have lost someone they affectionately call the ‘family magnet’ due to her bubbly and compassionate nature.
Born and raised in Estcourt, she attended Forderville Primary and Drakensberg Secondary schools before beginning her working career.
Mrs Lukhan was a friendly face at Spar and more recently she started working at Prime Electrical.
Her husband, Viveck (33), says he met his wife at a supermarket seven years ago. The couple married four years later and celebrated their third wedding anniversary on March 1. They have a daughter, Dhiyana, who is two-and-a-half-years-old. Mr Lukhan described his wife as loving, caring and his best friend.
“She was the perfect mother to our beautiful baby Dhiyana. You will forever live in my heart. I miss you, I love you,” he said as a tribute to his wife.
“Thank you to all the family and friends who supported my child and I. We send lots of love and appreciation to everyone who stood with us in this difficult time,” he added. Mrs Lukhan’s parents Naveen and Kamla Jungbadur said she was their angel who left too quick. “We will really miss her, we love her a lot,” they said.
Tributes from family members:
Judy Lukhan (mother-in-law) – You came into my life short and sweet. You have touched my heart with your sweetness.
Billy (father-in-law) – You came into my life as a daughter-in-law but quickly nestled in my heart as a daughter. I know that there will be no other that will take your place.
Nolan (brother) – You were the best sister and I thank you for everything you did for me.
Niveck (brother-in-law) – To a loving sister-in-law who turned out to be nothing less than a sister. A dear friend in times of need. You will be missed dearly.
Nivecka (sister-in-law) – You left a place in my heart that can never be replaced. You were the world’s best sister-in-law. I love you.
Niven (brother-in-law) – She was one of my best friends before she became my sister-in-law. She gave me advice when I needed it and stood by my entire family, no matter what the situation was.
Police spokesperson Captain Charmaine Struwig said Estcourt Detectives have opened an inquest. “At this time no foul play is suspected,” she added.
