Sad farewell to local activist

Thabo was an avid reader and never forgot the 'poorest of the poor' working tirelessly to wrong rights in the new Government

Dundee has said farewell to Thabo Manyathi – a struggle veteran – who passed away on Friday after a long illness. Thabo was known as a seasoned human rights activist in the area and was arrested in 1986 under the state of emergency.
“He spent two years in detention without trial. He later worked for Land Affairs.
Thabo was an avid reader and never forgot the ‘poorest of the poor’ working tirelessly to wrong rights in the new Government,” said fellow human rights veteran, Mzwakhe Sithebe,
The memorial service will be held at the McKenzie Civic Hall from 2pm on Thursday. The funeral will be held at Sibongile from 9am on Saturday.
