Update: Burnt “Prostitute Tree” comes crashing down in strong wind

The burned “Prostitute Tree” crashed to the ground on Tuesday.

It was recently reported online that a tree around which prostitutes would gather was about to topple over due to extensive burning of the trunk.

People reported that prostitutes were known to hang around the area almost every night, burning the massive tree at the bottom in order to stay warm.

The bottom of the tree trunk was regularly set alight for warmth, with the “ladies of the night” huddling around the fire. However, the tree was burnt so much that there was hardly any of the trunk left to keep it standing.

And yes, the tree did eventually come crashing down on Tuesday due to heavy wind.

A house and a business are situated nearby, but the tree luckily missed both as it hit the ground, blocking the entire roadway.

Many people in the area, including business owners, complained that the tree was a ticking time bomb and it seems that their concerns were indeed justified.

Tuesday’s strong wind was the catalyst in bringing the tree down.

The tree is no more, but IFP councillor L Bhoobun says that the smell coming from the area is unbearable, with 100s of condom wrappers and used condoms scattered on the ground.

One person who works at a nearby office said he had just come out of his office when he heard a loud crashing noise as the tree fell to the ground.
