Cannibalism: Not a new phenomenon to Northern KZN

According to our sister newspaper, the Northern Natal Courier, cannibalism is not a new phenomenon to NKZN.

Places like Southern Natal, Drakensberg, the Eastern Free State and Biggarsberg became famous for cannibalism. So much so that Zulus living in the East said that ‘when the sun went down, it was being devoured by cannibals.’

The most fearsome cannibal chief, Hluphalule, had three homesteads at Biggarsberg. At one of these, a huge rock was used as a pantry, where victims were kept hamstrung. Read the full story HERE

The Estcourt community marched to court on Monday to show their outrage at the alleged cannibalism being practiced by men of the area who were recently arrested. One of the suspects apparently walked into the Estcourt police station with a human arm and leg, saying he was “tired of eating human flesh”.

The case is being investigated by the Provincial Occult-Related Crime Unit.
