AfriForum clamps down on municipal manager

Former MM of Utrecht, Gugu Ntshangase was just appointed as MM of the Lekwa Local Municipality, even though 11 charges of corruption have been brought against her.

THE AfriForum branch in Utrecht recently submitted 11 charges of corruption against Gugu Ntshangase, former Municipal Manager of the Emadlangeni Local Municipality, to the Hawks.

Nevertheless Ntshangase was just appointed as Municipal Manager of the Lekwa Local Municipality.

“It is disturbing that, even though Ntshangase has these charges against her, she was still appointed as Municipal Manager. AfriForum’s Standerton branch is in the process of making enquiries at the municipal council and mayor regarding this matter and will enforce the necessary pressure to ensure that the investigation against her receives the necessary attention,” says Hillel Coetzer, AfriForum’s Regional Coordinator for Mpumalanga West.

“We want to encourage municipal officials to come forth if they are aware of corrupt activities so that the guilty parties can be apprehended. It is everyone’s responsibility to combat corruption,” concludes Coetzer.
