Buffalo Coal plants for the future to mark Arbor Month
Five indigenous trees were planted at the Dundee Country Club
Buffalo Coal has demonstrated that miners care deeply for the environment by planting trees to mark Arbor Month and Heritage Month.
Five indigenous trees were planted at the Dundee Country Club on Friday.
Each section of the mining operation was given a chance to plant their tree – the sections included Magdalena Colliery, Aviemore, Coalfields, Administration and Services.
Kevern Mattison, general manager of Buffalo Coal, remarked that ‘times are tough economically’ but that the mine was committed to ensuring the environment is cared for by planting trees that will be appreciated for generations to come.
The Buffalo Coal employees appeared to have great fun, challenging each as to whose tree would grow the tallest. Other companies, schools and clubs are also challenged to plant trees to show their commitment to the environment.
