SCHOOLS NEWS: St Doms brings Greek mythology to life

The school has put many hours into rehearsals and is now proud to present ‘an exhilarating, vibrant and energetic version of the popular Greek myth, Hercules’.

Of the divine Greek heroes, none were mightier than Heracles.

Accidentally empowered by the goddess Hera, Heracles (known by the Romans and modernised as Hercules) is synonymous with the famous Twelve Labours tasked to him by king Eurystheus.

Modern media has helped popularise these deeds.

Among others, Hercules slew the fierce Nemean lion, captured the ferocious Cretan Bull and stole the famed golden apples of the Hesperides.

Now St Dominic’s Newcastle is bringing this myth to life.

The school has put many hours into rehearsals and is now proud to present ‘an exhilarating, vibrant and energetic version of the popular Greek myth, Hercules’.

Expect song, dance and a Olympian ton of laughter.

“This adaptation of the popular story is sure to keep you entertained from beginning to end,” explained Dramatic Arts teacher, Pragashini Dhewlall.

The play runs from September 20 to 21 at the St Dominic’s Newcastle School Hall, from 6pm on both nights.

Tickets cost R50 for reserved seats and R30 for unreserved seating.
