Sewage leaks plague Alfred Street

Besides the obvious health hazard to passers-by, the eye sore the gushing leak is causing is also bad for neighbouring businesses

This sewage leak in the central business district has been leaking since the weekend.

Foul-smelling water is pouring out of the manhole in Alfred Street and flowing into the storm water drain. According to a resident from the area, the sewer leak was reported to Uthukela District Municipality on Sunday. However, the leak remains.

“This manhole always overflows, at least once a month. There is obviously a blockage somewhere that is causing the problem. It needs to be sorted out soon,” commented the resident.

Besides the obvious health hazard to passers-by, the eye sore the gushing leak is causing is also bad for neighbouring businesses.
