Wheel thieves still on the prowl

Owners of especially bakkies are urged to be extra vigilant

Wheel thieves are still lurking in the vicinity of Coronation Park.  Following the theft of four wheels from a bakkie outside the donga in July another attempt was made to steal wheels from a bakkie parked near the Bowling Club on Coronation Street on Monday evening.

The motorist was playing bowls at the time, supporting the Rotary Club’s bowling project, and did not suspect anything upon returning to his vehicle.

It was only the following day when he took his car in for wheel aligning that he realised that the wheel bolts on at least three wheels had been loosened in preparation for a theft.

Owners of especially bakkies are urged to be extra vigilant when parking their vehicles after sunset.
