Locals lend a hand as water gushes down Mark Street

A local security company went above and beyond as they took charge of a situation which could have led to a collision.

MEMBERS of a local security company went above and beyond on the night of August 30 as they took charge of a situation which could have led to an accident on the corner of President and Mark Streets.

At approximately 10pm on the night in question, Pro5’s Quinton van der Merwe was contacted by colleague, Juandre Weber, who requested assistance near AbaQulusi Super Spar, after he discovered water gushing from beneath the surface of the road and running down Mark Street.

A local security company blocked off the road where a burst pipe was causing a possible danger to motorists.

Upon his arrival, van der Merwe noted that a burst pipe was causing damage to the road and the situation was reported to the municipality.

A member of the public, Andries du Toit, who was passing by, stopped to assist them in blocking off and monitoring the area until help arrived.

Thank you, Juandre Weber and Andries du Toit for your assistance,” writes Quinton van der Merwe.
