COMMUNITY: Nappy drive moves full steam ahead

Women’s Fortè also encourages the community to donate any unwanted items that could be converted into cash, to purchase nappies.

Women’s Forte’s nappy drive is showing no signs of slowing down their mission to collect one million nappies.

The drive was launched by the non-profit organisation in March this year, and is aimed at helping the elderly, physically challenged as well as babies.

While nappies have been identified as a dire need in old age homes, orphanages and rehabilitation centres in town, the drive has already collected and distributed a substantial amount to needy dependents.

Organisation members recently identified patients who could benefit from this cause, most of whom are wheel-chair bound and suffer from various illnesses.

90-year-old Rajpathi Garahoo, Gideon Kok, Johnny Powell, Calvin Pillay and Mr and Mrs Singh were the recent recipients of the nappy donation.

The vision of this project is to restore the dignity of dependents.

Women’s Fortè also encourages the community to donate any unwanted items that could be converted into cash, to purchase nappies.

Pledge forms can be downloaded from the organisation’s website at www.womensforte.co.za or contact the organisers for banking details.
