WATER UPDATE: Vryheiders can expect another two days without water supply

Until the damaged sections has been repaired and reinstalled, Vryheid residents will have to collect water at JoJo tanks at the various collections points that were put in place during the drought.

Engineers have removed the damaged section of the pump at Klipfontein yesterday evening and have taken it to Newcastle to assess what can be done in terms of repair.

Until the damaged sections has been repaired and reinstalled, Vryheid residents will have to collect water at JoJo tanks at the various collections points that were put in place during the drought.

Cllr Alta de Kock said this morning that repairs o the pump may be completed either this afternoon or tomorrow, but urges residents to make provision for the water to be turned off another two days.

Cllr de Kock has also engaged with the Department of Technical Services about restoring the back-up pump at Klipfontein to working order to ensure that repairs will not hinder water supply to the town in the future.

Mayor, Jerry Sibiya, explained that a broken shaft and pump are the reason for the water issues the town has faced since the weekend and apologised for the inconvenience to residents.
