A taxi dispute is believed to be behind the fatal shooting of a man behind Tony’s Tool Hire on Tatham Street in the early hours of Saturday.
Security guards reported to police that they had heard three gunshots. It is believed there was a high-speed chase minutes before the shooting.
Police found the body of 37-year-old Bonginkosi Khanyi of Glencoe at around 3am. Three empty cartridges were also recovered near his body.
Another cartridge was found near the traffic lights at the Karel Landman/Union/Tatham Street intersection. Cash and a cellphone were found on Mr Khanyi’s person, which has made police to rule out the possibility that robbery was the motivation behind the murder.
