The two suspects fled the scene in a vehicle (make and model unknown), with the license plate reading NN33425, along with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Two suspects are still on the run after brutally killing a 35-year-old cash in transit security guard during an armed robbery at Theku Plaza at about 10.45am on September 27.

Spokesman for Madadeni SAPS, Captain M. Nkosi confirmed cash in transit employees were collecting money at Theku Plaza, when they were approached by two men who demanded they hand over the cash.

“An altercation reportedly ensued between the guards and the two men.”

The guards are believed to have overpowered the men, which led one of the suspects to produce a firearm.

“The security guard received a single gunshot wound to the head.”

Paramedics were summoned but the guard had already succumbed to his injury.

The two suspects fled the scene in a vehicle (make and model unknown), with the license plate reading NN33425, along with an undisclosed amount of cash.

“We are investigating the matter and will not rest until these men are caught,” Capt. Nkosi said.

SAPS is appealing to residents to come forward if they have any information relating to the whereabouts or identity of the two suspects.
