Deadly Rinkhals snake found outside Ladysmith home

The Rinkhals is well-known for playing dead when it feels threatened

A highly venomous Rinkhals snake was found outside a house in Rangoon Road recently.

The residents saw the deadly snake under some roof sheeting next to their home.

They contacted local snake expert Fanie Cilliers, who responded to the scene.

Fanie says it took him around 10 minutes to locate the snake, as he had to search for it in between the sheeting.

The homeowner was delighted that the snake was safely found and removed so it could not harm anyone at his house.

Fanie says the area surrounding Rangoon Road is a hot-spot for Rinkhals snakes, and almost every call he gets from that area concerns this species.
