Update: 3 cannibal suspects walk free as state drops charges

The withdrawal of the charges is provisional, and they may or may not be reinstated pending the outcome of the investigation

Charges of murder and conspiracy to commit murder have been provisionally withdrawn against three of the men implicated in the widely publicized Estcourt cannibalism case.

This comes after the seven suspects appeared in the Estcourt Magistrate’s Court this morning (October 12).

Senior Prosecutor Mr Zuma said he had received an instruction from the District Public Prosecutor to provisionally withdraw charges against Lindokuhle Masondo, Wiseman Madlala and Sazi Ndlovu.

He explained that the withdrawal of charges was provisional, and the charges may or may not be reinstated pending the outcome of the ongoing investigation.
