Profiling: Nadia Buckus who is making a difference in people
"By connecting with other people's lives and helping them through tough times, I find the intrinsic sense of reward and meaning I have been seeking"
“Be who you want to be, not what others want to see.”
These are the words of Certified Life and Business Coach and Counsellor. Estcourt’s Nadia Buckus is passionate about helping people achieve their full potential.
“For me being a registered counsellor is an honour and a challenge. I often don’t feel as if this is a job. I am in a profession of healing people through a wide variety of problems. I enjoy helping people from all walks of life.”
As a Certified Life Coach and Counsellor, Mrs Buckus helps her clients be the best they can be and to live life to the fullest. Mrs Buckus recently started up a new project to help her strengthen her hand in helping others. The project is a support group for people suffering with anxiety and depression. They meet once every second Wednesday at the Estcourt Hospice House at 46 Beechwood Road. So when Mrs Buckus is not in active mum mode, or a dedicated wife, one would find her looking for new opportunities to help others. That then becomes her new hobby.
“I chose to become a counsellor in order for me to make a difference in people’s lives. By connecting with other people’s lives and helping them through tough times, I find the intrinsic sense of reward and meaning I have been seeking,” she explained.
Mrs Buckus studied her BA Psychology degree part time with Unisa. Thereafter she went on and studied Life Coaching with Neuron Linguistic Programming.
She is now registered with the Counsel for Counselling and the Association for Supportive Counsellors and Holistic Practitioners.
She believes that everyone has problems that they need to overcome in their everyday lives, and her education and training can provide valuable assistance to those with emotional needs.
“When stress occurs in life, my clients choose to speak to me, and I give them direction, support and guidance.”
Mrs Buckus looks up to her coach, Wayne Farrell and here is why: “He jump started me onto this path by applying many of his success principles to my personal life and business, and most importantly, to discover the power of my own thoughts and intentions.”
Through her chosen field of work, her goal is to help clients find hope, healing and strength.
