Elderly man rescued after a fall in the Drakensberg

The man, who was part of a guided tour, fell while navigating the Drakensberg’s terrain

A successful mountain rescue in the Drakensberg yesterday afternoon saw an elderly man airlifted to safety with moderate injuries.

The man, who was part of a guided tour, fell while navigating the Drakensberg’s terrain.

According to ER24 spokesperson Annine Siddall, at about 4pm paramedics were summoned to the area.

“ER24 Ladysmith assisted NKZN Mountain Rescue after the man was retrieved and flown to Bergville Fire Station,” she explained.

The injured man was transported to a Pietermaritzburg hospital for further treatment.
