SEE THIS: Farmers unite on #BlackMonday

“Farmers are getting tired. Without us, there is no food. Farm attacks not only affect us but also the people we employ,” said Mr Cawood

About 200 farmers representing the Estcourt, Winterton and Bergville Farmers Associations joined the national #BlackMonday protest this morning.

From as early as 6.30am, farmers, supporters and tractors stationed along the N3 close to the Winterton off-ramp and prepared themselves to add their voices to stop farm attacks.

George Cawood from the Estcourt Farmers Association said that a decision to support #BlackMonday was taken after several farmers expressed the desire to get involved in the national protests.

“Farmers are getting tired. Without us, there is no food. Farm attacks not only affect us but also the people we employ,” said Mr Cawood.

He said that the convoy of vehicle, accompanied by the local Protection Services and police officers drove at a slow speed along the N3.

“There were several motorists who gave us support as they passed by with hoots and stopping to tell us they support the cause,” added Mr Cawood.
