Director of Co-Operative Development KZN visits ArcelorMittal

The director indicated that such large scale interventions were not common, and those that offer any form of incubation period did so for a short duration, during which the occupants usually paid for use of these facilities.

ArcelorMittal’s Transformation Department recently had the privilege of hosting the Director of Co-Operative Development of KZN, Ms Sihle Mazibuko.

Socio- Economic Development Manager, Joe Nowbath said Mazibuko had scheduled the meeting to discuss AMSA’s intervention programmes in the small business development, in and around the Amajuba District.

“She was pleasantly surprised to learn of AMSA’s plans for the business park and incubation hub, and was in awe of the fact that none of the occupants would pay for use of the facilities.”

The director indicated that such large scale interventions were not common, and those that offer any form of incubation period did so for a short duration, during which the occupants usually paid for use of these facilities.

Nowbath stated that Mazibuko was also impressed with the creation of jobs by the localisation of internal transport to a trucking consortium, as well as the introduction of a car wash in the works, and mentioned that she “wished she had a car wash at work”.

Mazibuko undertook a tour of the incubation hub, which was scheduled to be launched in 2018.

“She said ArcelorMittal was on track with its thought process and interventions, and would be in close contact with us in our journey in growing the economy, with our quest to transform tomorrow,” concluded Nowbath.
