Warning: Massive petrol hike in December

Motorists can expect an increase of 74 cents for 95 petrol, and 75 cents for 93 petrol

Volvo Cars South Africa has rolled out its latest global initiative in the form of a paid gender-neutral parental leave policy that will provide both mothers and father with a six month leave, in addition to allocating 80% of pay to same-sex parents and those of adopted children.

Ladysmith motorists should brace themselves for a massive petrol hike this December.

Data indicates that motorists can expect an increase of 74 cents for 95 petrol, and 75 cents for 93 petrol.

Diesel is expected to increase by 63 cents.

According to the Automobile Association (AA), the situation will be exacerbated by ongoing political uncertainty in the country, with the ANC’s elective conference in December increasing the volatility of the local currency.

Following a recent cabinet reshuffle by President Jacob Zuma, the rand weakened to over R14 to the dollar, which will have an impact on December’s fuel prices.
