LK security guards continue to suffer
At least 145 households are suffering since AbaQulusi’s last payment to the company in July.

THERE seems to be no light at the end of the tunnel for LK security guards as yet another month has gone by and they still haven’t been paid.
According to LK’s Hendrick van As, at least 145 households are suffering since AbaQulusi’s last payment to the company in July.
“It is very difficult to understand how the municipality expects our guards to continue working when they are not being paid. The company does not have the money to pay these people as no payments have been made to us since July,” said Mr van As.

He explained that the company was aware of how some of their guards are often not at their posts but reasoned that it was due to the lack of payment.
“It is very hard to continue working when you are hungry,” he said.
He went on to say that the company could not be held accountable for the goods that have been lost as the municipality has failed to keep their end of the deal.
Explaining the reason for having not paid the company since July, AbaQulusi municipality said that the company had attempted to pass on a 10% escalation cost to the municipality.
The tender documents that they initially submitted stated that there would be no escalation costs during their contract. The municipality said that LK Security Solutions needed to change the invoice to be in line with what was agreed upon and then they would get paid.
LK Security seems unwilling to do this and as a result, their guards may be headed towards a fourth month without payment.
“It is not fair how the employees are suffering due to the client being unwilling to pay the company,” Mr van As said in conclusion.
Whether or not the guards will ever be paid remains yet to be determined.
