Pet poisonings put residents on the edge as crime wave continues

Dog poisonings are once again on the rise as criminals target Dundee homes.
A cat and a dog were found dead in Tom Worthington Drive after they both ate meat laced with poison.
The following night, two home owners in Bulwer Street found cut up pieces of Russian sausages in their gardens, coated with a grainy black substance which they immediately suspected to be poison.
One of the owners explained that ‘thankfully’ his dogs were not out in the front of the garden that night, or else they would have eaten the poisoned meat. An elderly man and has family were attacked and robbed in their home also on Tom Worthington Drive.
The spate of attacks have prompted residents to form an active neighbourhood watch group, which also operates on WhatsApp.
Called 911, the group go out on patrols after hours in a bid to stem the crime wave.

It was also said that three dogs were poisoned last night in the Ann and Albert Street area and another dog poisoned in Dannhauser town.

Businessman, Yusuf Kader, who is leading the drive, said he would ‘not rest until the criminals are brought to book’. He said meetings had been held with the Community Police Forum CPF, and senior police officers to explain what the intention of the group was’.
