Sarel Cilliers neem deel aan E.G. Jansen

Sarel Cilliers Hockey and Rugby teams at Tournament at Voortrekker Sports Day

Hockey and Rugby Tournament at Voortrekker
The first team hockey girls played in a tournament at Voortrekker High School in Pietermaritzburg. It was once again an early start to their Saturday, but this time in a hot and humid PMB. The team played six matches altogether. They won two (against Empangeni and Durban North college), drew two (against Voortrekker and Greytown) and lost two (against Newcastle High and King Edward).
The girls would like to thank their supportive parents.
All of the rugby teams played against the hosting school and despite the suffocating heat, managed to win all their games with a true ‘never surrender’ attitude.
The u/14 and u/15 teams beat their opponents who had an unbeaten record this year, by 24-7 and 21-0 respectively. The u/16 team won 39-12 in a high paced, tense encounter. The second team in a tough game were tested to their limits and won 17-5.
Netball Tournament in Pietermaritzburg
Sarel Cilliers’ first team netball took part in a netball festival in Pietermaritzburg during the weekend. It was hosted by Epworth Girls High. They arrived ready and excited for the next two days of intensive exercise. There was a total of 10 schools who took part in a round robin league meaning that they played nine matches in total. The games were tough. The team managed to dominate five of the nine matches and unfortunately lost the other four. They ended in fifth place by the end of the tournament. Sindiswa Masinga, the Goal Attack, was chosen as a player of the match and was awarded with a trophy.
The scores were as follows: Saturday: Durban Girls College, Sarel lost 8-27, Felixton, Sarel won 17-5, Pinetown Girls High, Sarel won 26-6, St Pat College, Sarel won 39-1 and Dundee High, Sarel lost 29-17; Sunday: Epworth u/16, Sarel lost 14-26, Grace College, Sarel won 39-8, Curro Hillcrest, Sarel won 25-3, Epworth 1st, Sarel lost 12-30.
