Monster potholes in Ladysmith
It was scary to see motorists breaking the law driving on the wrong side of the road, driving on curbs and doing some "dodgem driving" to avoid the potholes

Potholes and bad road surfaces is a hot topic in Ladysmith and has become a major problem, as many motorists are frustrated and cannot understand why the municipality does not fix the town’s roads!
The Ladysmith Gazette went around town to find the 10 ‘most dangerous’ potholes.
While out on the streets snapping photos of “monster potholes”, it was scary to see motorists breaking the law driving on the wrong side of the road, driving on curbs and doing some “dodgem driving” to avoid the holes.
Frustrated motorists stopped and thanked us for highlighting this issue, sharing their experiences and the costs they have been faced with due to damage done to their vehicles.
“I had to replace three run-flat tyres on 3 different vehicles, which cost me close to R14,000. I guess this is just another expense motorists are forced to pay due to lack of interest from the municipality,” said a businessman.
“Most of the time, we are forced to hit these damn potholes, as there is oncoming traffic and we cannot avoid them,” he added.
