While it may have sounded easy enough, the afternoon sun took no prisoners as it beat down on the determined participants.
For 17 participants, all that stood in the way of them and R10 000 was placing their right hand on an IVECO truck.
The IVECO Stand-off Challenge kicked off at 12.45pm on Friday (April 27), at the Newcastle Winter Festival main arena.

While it may have sounded easy enough, the afternoon sun took no prisoners as it beat down on the determined participants. Each one was allowed limited breaks in between, but fatigue soon settled in.

With strict rules and R10 000 on the line, the Newcastle Winter Festival officials watched closely as one-by-one, participants were disqualified.
After standing for nine hours, 11 contestants remained on Friday night and were instructed to return the next day to continue the challenge.
The stand-off began again at 9am on Saturday (April 28). Ready to take on another day and determined to win, participants once again placed their right hand on the IVECO truck.
By 3pm on Saturday afternoon, with cramping hands and sunburned skin, Bennie Lubbe reigned victorious over the IVECO Stand-off Challenge and walked away with R10 000 cash.
