Fun-filled Ladysmith Show over for another year
The funfair saw young and old alike going on the rides, and the stalls had a great variety of items to buy

Ladysmith Show 2018 is “done and dusted” after three days of fun from May 10 to 12.
The show really had something for everyone… The Mr and Miss Ladysmith Show contest saw many boys and girls entering in the hopes of winning the crown and title.
Top musicians performed on Friday night, from Ruan and Franja du Plessis to Tipcee.
Local artists also took the stage at the show and made us all proud.
Tansen Nepaul’s musical extravaganza at the show grounds on Saturday night was undoubtedly one of the major highlights for show-goers, who thoroughly enjoyed the pumping rhythms and gyrating dancers. Even the falling rain could not dampen their spirits.
The ‘Battle of the DJs’ competition took place all three nights and kept everyone dancing.
There was something different at the show this year in the form of a Boot Camp that pushed teams and individuals to the limit.
Food lovers were delighted to hear that the Potjiekos Competition was back again, and another first was the yummy Bunny Chow Competition.
Between all this, there were other competitions that kept everyone having fun, such as the Pizza-Eating Competition and Dance Competition, with fabulous prizes up for grabs.
There was also an exciting fire display by Public Safety and a demonstration from Sharaj Ambulance Services that had the crowd enthralled.
Yet another first at the show was a drone demonstration that had children running around to keep up with the flying spectacle.
The funfair saw young and old alike going on the rides, and the stalls had a great variety of items to buy.
The Beer Garden and Vape Lounge were also popular among the show-goers, not forgetting the roaring Rat Rods.
With all the fun happening, there was one unpleasant issue that arose at the show grounds and that was a lack of water on Saturday.
Due to a burst pipe in Dry Road, the area was left without water.
Stall holders could not prepare meals and the toilet facilities inside the halls had to be shut down. However, there were mobile toilets available on the field and the Ladysmith Show Committee arranged for uThukela to send a water tanker to solve the problem.
