Mixed results for Dundee’s league golfers

Dave's Wednesday afternoon 10 holes competition is picking up momentum and the progressive jackpot now stands at over R300, so let's see more golfers coming out to play on a Wednesday afternoon.

The five Dundee Country Club men’s league teams all competed in their respective divisions in Sunday’s Northern Natal League fixtures held at Ladysmith and Vryheid.
Unfortunately, it was only the two B division teams that enjoyed success on the day, with Mandla’s ‘B1’ team easily defeating Kilbarchan 10-2 and Barry’s ‘B2’ team managing to scrape home 7-5 over Ladysmith.
The win for the ‘B1’ team keeps them tied top of the league table with Vryheid.
The ‘B2’ teams victory moves them into third position on the log.
The ‘A1’ team were soundly beaten 2-10 by a strong Kilbarchan side, while the ‘A2’ team went down 4-8 to Ladysmith on their opponent’s home course.
The Frog team managed to come home with a creditable 2-2 draw against Kilbarchan.
Last Friday saw a good field of 16 golfers taking part in the 10 Hole Cross Country Challenge and it was Mandla Mthethwa who was able to overcome the difficult course layout the best to win with 23 individual points followed by Jo Khumalo on 21 points.
Jo was once again in the prizes on Saturday, when he and his partner Cyril Mkhwanazi won the 4 B.B.B.S. scramble drive competition with 50 points, managing to beat the pairing of Richard Catlett and Rob Streak on a count out, thanks to a great 2 Club by Jo on the 18th hole.

Members are reminded of our 27 Hole Fellowship Challenge scheduled for Saturday, June 2, which promises to be a great day out on the course followed by a spit-braai for supper.
