READ NOW: No answers in postbox mystery

The municipality failed to respond at the time of going to print, as well as regional representatives from the South African Post Office.

The mystery has deepened around the Ncandu Park post boxes.

Residents contacted the Newcastle Advertiser earlier in the month, seeking answers as to why access to the postboxes on Tugela/Renoster Avenue.

They claimed the postboxes were inexplicably fenced off.

One resident said the addition of a fence, gate and no accompanying key made it impossible for residents in the area to receive their mail.

Investigation showed was indeed the case.

A palisade fence has been erected around the four postboxes on Tugela/Renoster Avenue, although who was responsible for this decision remains uncertain.

What is clear is that access is now limited at best.
