PREVIEW: Vien pursues a Comrades Marathon milestone

Thanks to preparation and determination, Vien Sewlal is prepared to tackle his 25th consecutive Comrades Marathon this year.

This weekend, Vien Sewlal will take on his 25th consecutive Comrades Marathon.

For some determined athletes, completing a single ultramarathon is achievement enough.

For Vien however, one Comrades Marathon was simply not enough.

“I’m very proud of what I’ve achieved and I am looking forward to it.”

Vien joined the world of marathons in the early 90s.

By 1994, he joined a local athletics club and received a licence from Athletics South Africa.

“A lot of my running was due to the support of my family and my late wife, plus running friends who alongside with me,” Vien added proudly.
