La Gratitude hosts Annual General Meeting
CEO of the Board of Committee, Jabu Nkosi read the annual report, and said the home was fortunate to have been blessed during the 2017/2018 financial year, although the home had seen its fair share of ups and down over the past 12 months.
La Gratitude Home for the Aged recently held its annual general meeting at the La Gratitude Hall.
Members of the home as well as board of committee members attended the event to find out what had transpired over the last financial year.
CEO, Jo-Marie Batista welcomed guests, and thanked the for attending, before apologising on behalf of those who could not make it.

She also wished resident, Marie Jacobs, who was hospitalised a speedy recovery.
Happy to announce that she had been a part of the Home for 16 years, Batista opened the evening in prayer, asking that La Gratitude be blessed for the next 16 years ahead.
Hereafter, she read the minutes of the previous AGM, which was second and approved by members of the committee.

She proceeded to thank all board members for offering their voluntary time to helping the home as well as for their roles in the success of over coming yet another financially challenging year.
“These men and women have gone out of their way to fulfill their duties. You have given your time and expertise to the home and you have contributed to the success of this home, while offering assistance to the old and frail.”
“We are also aware that we face more financial challenges in the future, but we will continue to do our best to look after the residents here.

She spoke of the various awareness and outreach programmes the home had conducted to help raise funds during the year, and she thanked everyone who had helped with sponsorship’s and generous donations.
Furthermore, Schoeman Botha read the financial report, and touched topics negatively affecting the home’s income such as expenses, unpaid bills and inflation rates.
He also thanked businesses who had donated bricks and building material which had helped with the upgrade of the home’s front entrance.
Thereafter, Jacques Habig read the auditors report, and said he was satisfied with his audit.
Jo-Marie then took over and finalised the annual report, while thanking everyone for playing such major roles in keeping the homes door’s open, and said the home would continue to provide the best service possible.
She also spoke of the increase in abuse against the elderly cases they had received from outside parties, and urged members of the public to report such heinous crimes to the home in order for them to assist the frail and helpless with care and safety.
She mentioned available vacancies open at the home and welcomed a new board member to the committee, namely Mr Hoosen Noomè.
The evening concluded with guests enjoying a delicious serving of home-mad soup with freshly baked bread rolls.
