The Newcastle Advertiser has embarked on a winter drive to warm up the homeless in Newcastle.
Officially dubbed the Newcastle Advertiser Blanket and Jacket Winter Drive, the aim is to collect as many jackets and blankets to donate to the less fortunate as possible.

One week into the campaign, Newcastillians have already contributed to this worthy cause.
To date, we have received a generous donation by Majuba Rotary Club, consisting of scarves and blankets.
Kind-hearted Newcastillians also dropped off warm jackets and even hand-crocheted jerseys and socks for children.
“Thank you Newcastle, for considering the less fortunate and donating to our drive. Every donation counts, and the we encourage the people of Newcastle to go the extra mile for those who battle the bitter cold daily.”
