Strike Update: Many areas of Ladysmith left without water as uThukela workers continue to strike

The uThukela Pieters Depot has been completely closed by the workers

Thousands of Ladysmith residents woke up this morning (June 29) to find no water coming out of their taps.

It is believed that uThukela workers are still on strike, as many of them did not get paid the money owing to them.

The uThukela Pieters Depot has been completely closed by the workers.

An uThukela bakkie that was previously involved in a crash was moved to the entrance gates of the depot to block anyone from going in or out.

Areas that receive water from the Ezakheni Bulk Water Plant now have no water, because water is not being purified by the workers.

Ezakheni, Acaciavale, Hillside and Leonardsville are currently affected.
