Update: No reports of protest action in Colenso

The protest was sparked after electricity was cut by Alfred Duma Local Municipality

There have been no reports of protest action in Colenso this morning (July 3).

From Sunday evening, Colenso residents blocked the main street with rocks, stones and burning tyres as they demanded that their grievances be heard.

The protest was sparked after electricity was cut by Alfred Duma Local Municipality.

Arrests have been made by police concerning the protest action, which continued until yesterday (July 2).

While Colenso is quiet, there is a protest from Muden towards Weenen on the R74.

Protesters have blocked the road with rocks and stones, and motorists are warned to stay clear of this area.
