Dundee July parade sets the scene for the big race day

Town missed out on this year's parade

The Dundee July parade was held in Sibongile yesterday – a move which surprised  many locals who waited in vain for the colourful procession to make its way up Victoria Street. Vendors had set up stalls in front of the municipality but there was no procession.

Only the leather clad bikers were evident. Meanwhile, the procession with marching bands, jugglers and, yes, horses was in full swing in Sibongile. Some in Dundee were disappointed and called the Courier to say that they had waited most of the day for ‘something to happen in town’ only to find that their wait had been in vain.  Mayor Richard Mbatha also expressed his disappointment that the town area had not been involved.

Today, Saturday, sees the big Dundee July Raceday at the Rural Horse Riding Track and the music party will start at 6pm and is expected to be an all nighter.
