Residents have spoken out against post office delays, which have seen some facing cut-offs from the municipality, as they have not received their service charge bills.
“I have not seen any post for weeks now. The municipality posts these bills and when you do not receive an account, you don’t pay. The municipality is quick to cut off power and the reconnection costs a fortune.
“It is very frustrating. Why is this happening?” said one businessman who preferred not to be named.
A Smith Street resident said he had not received letters in his street box ‘for months’. The same sentiment was echoed by those living on Jimmy Keith Street.

A Dundee post office worker, who did not want to be named, told the Courier that while the national strike by postal workers finished some weeks ago, the postmen, who do the street deliveries, are now on strike.
“We are not sure when they will get back to work and we have numerous letters in our offices,” said a post office worker.
The Municipality has advised consumers to rather receive their service bills via e-mail, rather than by post.
Those wishing to receive this service can report their details to the front counter.
