Quick response to a house robbery in Mondlo led to the recovery of several stolen vehicles in Ezakheni.

A HOUSE robbery in Mondlo led to the recovery of six motor vehicles this past weekend.

According to police officials, a community member from the Nceceni area in Mondlo near Pondi Tavern, opened a case at the Mondlo police station claiming that he had been woken from his sleep at around 10pm by a loud banging on his window.

When he awoke, he noticed that there were three men inside his bedroom.

The men were allegedly armed and demanded cash.

When the victim denied being in possession of any money, he was allegedly assaulted with the butt of a firearm to his head.

He is then said to have given them the money he had with him. The men are said to have then taken his two vehicles, a VW and a bakkie and other appliances from his house.

Police officials were able to track down the whereabouts of the vehicles using a tracking system in one of them and found the cars, with several other stolen vehicles at a homestead in Ezakheni.

The Vryheid Tracing Team, Ladysmith’s Dog Unit and Vryheid’s K9 Unit worked together to ensure that the operation was a success.
