Only 2 days left to swap your SASSA card and get new benefits

SASSA card holders are reminded that they need to swap over to the new card.

This must be done before September 30.

There are many benefits to the new card and system:

• No illegal deductions;
• Three free cash withdrawals allowed at merchants;
• One free cash withdrawal allowed per month at a post office branch;
• All purchases (swipes) at merchants are free;
• The new card is EMV compliant, which means it is Eurocard / Mastercard / Visa compliant, as this is the global  standard for chip cards and therefore offers better security;
• The card is accepted by all merchants and ATMs in South Africa.

There are also responsibilities that come with the new card:

• You must use your SASSA card responsibly;
• You cannot use your card as a security to get a loan;
• You may not falsely state that the card was lost or stolen.

Individuals can go to the Ladysmith SASSA offices to switch to the new card.
