Nongoma prisoner makes daring escape
Guards discovered that a prisoner had escaped from the holding cells, within 10 hours of his arrest.
POLICE are still searching for a prisoner who escaped from the holding cells at the Nongoma police station last week.
Thembinkosi Jagoyi Gumede was arrested in connection with burglary and the possession of stolen property last Thursday, and detained in a holding cell at 9am that morning.

Guards discovered at 6.30pm the same day that the holding cell, in which he was detained, was empty.
Damage to the ceiling boards and roof iron net indicated where he escaped from, however police could not provide details as to what implements he used to break through the roof.
Investigations are ongoing.
