WATCH – Dormant street lights leave Newcastle in the darkness
A brief survey of the Newcastle area showed at least 20 street lights are out of order, leaving parts of town in the dark.

Could dormant street lights leave Newcastle entirely in the dark?
What began as a complaint from a resident has evolved into a broad look at failing electrical infrastructure in Newcastle.
The Newcastle Advertiser recently undertook a sweeping nighttime observation.

From a tour through the suburbs and areas of town, at least 20 dormant street lights were spotted and noted down.
Affected areas include primarily the CBD, Paradise and Aviary Hill.

The municipality was contacted for its official response and approach to this matter.
No feedback has yet been received.
However, a troublesome light on Lacerta Place was curiously repaired after many months of being dormant.
