BREAKING NEWS: Second cash in transit heist in NKZN this week
Less than two hours ago, another G4S van was blown up on the road between Dundee and Nquthu.
Police have confirmed that yet another cash in transit heist has taken place in NKZN, just three days after a group of gunmen attacked a G4S vehicle in Vryheid, fatally wounding a guard and shooting a community crime fighter in the stomach.
Roughly two hours ago, another G4S van was blown up on the road between Dundee and Nquthu.
It is believed that this cash in transit vehicle was also transporting cash back to Newcastle when it was attacked by an unknown number of suspects.

Luckily, no injuries have been reported and the crew is said to be physically unharmed. However, the guards’ firearms were taken during the robbery.
The robbers fled the scene in a Ford Ranger and an Audi.
The Vryheid Herald posed questions regarding the safety of its cash in transit guards to a G4S representative (who has asked that her name be omitted from this article for fear of her own safety) following the heist in Vryheid.
We asked what measures were taken to protect staff, especially when it came to long distance trips at month end, when businesses generally make the most money. There was no escourt vehicle to deter robbers when the cash in transit vehicle was robbed in Vryheid.
We are still waiting for a response.

We also requested the opportunity to write an obituary in tribute to Delani Sibiya, the guard who was fatally wounded during the heist.
G4S’s only response to this request has been, “Sadly, one of our security officers was fatally wounded during this callous attack.”
