Protect your pet – it’s fireworks time

Newcastle SPCA's Heather Gero offers some advice on how to protect your pet during the upcoming festivities.

Soon the night sky will transform into a beautiful canvas of brightly coloured light during Diwali, Guy Fawkes and New Years Eve as firework after firework explode in the night sky.

While people enjoy the displays of light and noise, their pets –  however – cower in the corner or under a bed terrified at the thunderous roar and flashing lights.

The dilemma is a cultural one… so what can be done to protect and comfort terrified pets?
