Dreadful accident on Victoria Street last night

A woman died last night after being hit by a truck.

A woman was knocked over and dragged on the road by a truck, packed with logs, near Pep Stores on Victoria Street last night at around 9.30 pm. According to a witness, the truck dragged the woman to the corner of Gladstone Stree,t near FNB, before stopping for a few seconds and driving off again.

Those who witnessed the accident tried to stop the driver but to no avail.

The victim was decapitated and as the truck continued to travel on the road, pieces of her body were left behind on the street.

It was thought that the woman was walking with a group of others when she was hit by the truck. It was said that only her torso was recovered and it is believed her severed head attached itself to the truck.

The police were called to the scene but came after the truck had driven off leaving the deceased on the road.
