Vryheid motorist targeted by pepper-spray wielding schoolboys

We have spoken to the headmaster about the incident.

Community crime fighters are looking for information that will lead them to the boys from Vryheid High School who allegedly terrorised motorists with pepper-spray this morning in Church Street.
Neighbourhood Watch member, Jakes Terblanche, was one motorists who was sprayed by the mischievous boys as he passed the Church/ Republic Street intersection.
“Fortunately the pepper spray only got me in my one eye so I could still use my other good eye to drive safely and avoid causing an accident,” said Mr Terblanche.
The Watch’s Chris Marais confirmed that they had headed out to the school to see if the boys were still loitering by the corner but found it abandoned.
“We found no learners there when we went to look but found one of the signboards still wet with pepper-spray,” said Chris.
Chris went on to say that they then looked around to see if they could find an empty pepper-spray can from which they could obtain fingerprints but this proved futile.
“We have spoken to the headmaster about the incident. He said that he was willing to help granted we could give an estimate of the ages of the boys,” said Chris.

Providing this information may prove to be rather difficult for Jakes as he had not paid much attention to the children standing near the school while he was driving past and by the time he had pepper-spray in his eye, his main focus was to drive safely.
Chris said that an assault case would be opened should the culprits be found.
Vryheid High School principal, Anton Le Roux, said that he was aware of the complaint from the Neighbourhood Watch, but said that it was currently difficult to trace down those responsible for the incident as no one was able to provide an estimate of the ages of the boys in question.

“We have learners writing exams today from Grade 8 right up to Grade 12. This is about 800 people, I honestly would not know where to start if I went out looking for them. I asked them to at least provide me with an estimation of the ages of the boys in question but so far I have not received anything,” said Mr Le Roux.
Mr Le Roux said that a general announcement would be made in the exam rooms and they would see if they could get any information from that.
