Simla takes centre stage for I Am Woman pageant
The awards' concept was launched via Facebook on the I Am Female group and over 3 000 nominations were received

The first ever I Am Woman winner was in November and Endumeni was be proudly represented at the awards by Simla Mohabir.
The awards, created by comedian, Bash with Tash, celebrated strong women of substance, who put others first and serve their community.
“It’s not the size of her clothes but the size of her heart. Not the style of her shoes but the journey of her life and the path she walks, ” said Tash.
A teacher at Dundee Primary School, Mrs Mohabir, has long been committed to helping the community. “I’ve always dreamed of being a philanthropist, so it’s nice to be recognised for my efforts.”
As a Cancer survivor, she’s proved that she can overcome anything and still come out smiling. The awards were just another feather in her cap of achievements.
The awards’ concept was launched via Facebook on the I Am Female group and over 3 000 nominations were received. The top ten women who received the most votes were then chosen to contest the inaugural competition.
The ten ladies had to do a presentation on themselves, highlighting how they’ve helped the community and why they deserved to be the first ever winner.
“I’m proud to have represented my small town in such a big event,” said Mrs Mohabir.
Mrs Mohabir thanked the community for supporting and believing in her.
She also urged other women in the town to empower themselves, get involved in clubs and organizations and achieve their goals.
