Water restrictions are still in place, so do the right thing

Car washes, the filling up of swimming pools, using sprinkler systems and the watering of gardens will still have restrictions until further notice

Due to dry and hot weather conditions, worsened by the shortage of rainfall, uThukela District Municipality urges consumers to use water sparingly.

The water level in the Klip River, as our main source of raw water, is dropping at an alarming rate. The situation has not improved in recent months, therefore water restrictions are still in place. This although we have experienced some isolated thundershowers lately.

Because of all this, the public should be aware that water restrictions cannot be alleviated at this juncture. It is also up to each and every citizen to do the right thing.

These restrictions apply to all residents of Ladysmith.

The situation will worsen should we not receive sufficient rainfall during this summer season to replenish our rivers and dams.

People are encouraged to store water in containers when they have running water and also harvest rain water should it rain. This will assist in terms of having enough water in households in times of unexpected water cuts.
